POSSIBLE CHILD-ANNOYING SUSPECT

On Monday, January 8, 2007, at about 6:30 p.m., a man driving a white SUV drove up to three elementary school aged girls who were standing in front of Edison School at 2425 Kansas Ave.  The man stared and winked at the girls who quickly ran away and hid in adjacent bushes.  The man yelled out words to the effect, “Too bad you ducked, I was going to give you a gift, but I guess not.”  The man drove off westbound Kansas Ave.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a white SUV with tinted windows, having a white license plate which begins with “4” and ends with “7”.  The man is described as having brown skin, in his 30’s, balding dark hair, a mustache, a hoop earring in his left ear, and a tattoo of possibly flowers or a dragon on his right forearm.  He appeared to be heavy set and wearing a gray t-shirt.  If this suspect and vehicle is observed, attempt to safely and discreetly note the complete license plate, as well as the driver’s physical description, and immediately call Santa Monica Police at 310.458.8491, or dial 9-1-1.  Refer to SMPD Incident #07-2547.

For further information, contact Detective Lloyd Gladden at the Santa Monica Police Department’s Youth Services Division at (310) 458-8931, or the Watch Commander at (310) 458-8426.  Callers with suspect information who wish to remain anonymous may also call the We-Tip national hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463).  Callers with Information leading to an arrest and conviction may be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward.
