BICYCLE LICENSING

The Santa Monica Police Department reminds everyone that the State of California requires all bicycles used on any public street to be licensed.

Licenses may be obtained from the City of Santa Monica License and Permit Division located at City Hall.  Licenses are $3.00 and are valid for three years.

When applying for a license, the following information must be provided:

Owner: Name, Address and Phone Number

Bicycle: Serial Number, Make, Model, Type, Color, Speed, Wheel Size and Frame Size.

After an application is processed, the license and accompanying stickers are mailed to the registrant.  The stickers must be placed on the vertical bar of the frame that supports the bicycle seat.

If your bicycle is lost or stolen, contact the Santa Monica Police Department at (310) 458-8491 and be prepared to provide the bicycle license number and bicycle serial number.  This information helps the Police Department attempt to locate your bicycle.
