    Traffic Fatality Involving a Motorcyclist

    On January 28, 2013, at 1:03 p.m. the Santa Monica Police Department responded to the intersection of 25th Street and Pico Blvd regarding a collision involving a vehicle and motorcycle.

    The initial investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, a 26 years old male from Inglewood, was stopped northbound on 25th Street at Pico Blvd for the posted stop sign.  The motorcycle, driven by 22 year old Alexander Smollins from Culver City, was traveling eastbound in the 2400 block of Pico Boulevard, as the driver made a left turn onto westbound Pico, the two collided.  Smollins succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision.

    The driver of the vehicle was interviewed at the location and released.  The Santa Monica Police Department is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
