On October 9, 2013 at approximately 12:09 am the Santa Monica Police Department responded to the area of Lincoln Boulevard and Pier Avenue regarding a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.
The preliminary initial investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, a 34 year old female resident of Culver City, was traveling southbound on Lincoln Blvd and the pedestrian crossed Lincoln Boulevard, eastbound, in front of her vehicle. The driver stated that she did not see the pedestrian until her vehicle struck him.
The pedestrian, a 54 year old male, sustained major trauma to his body as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's name is being withheld pending the notification of family.
The driver of the vehicle was cooperative throughout the investigation and was determined to not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. After being interviewed, she was released pending further investigation.
