HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION

On April 5, 2001, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Santa Monica police officers were called to an abandoned structure in the 1500 block of 7th Street regarding a dead body.

A construction crew discovered the body of deceased Caucasian female, approximately 30 years old, in a building scheduled for demolition.  The construction crew called the police for assistance.

At this time, the Department is considering the death as a homicide.  Investigators are on-scene and continuing to search through possible evidence and attempting to locate potential witnesses/suspects.  The identity of the victim is not known at this time.  The immediate cause of death is not known at this time.
