On
July 11th and 12th, 2001, the Santa Monica
Police Department, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Police
Department “Operation ABC” will be offering two free educational
seminars at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. The seminars are
directed towards all liquor retailers and their employees in the City
of Santa Monica and neighboring Venice area.
This
informative seminar will help liquor retailers and their employees
understand their obligations and responsibilities regarding alcoholic
beverage sales. The primary goal of the seminar is to improve
voluntary compliance of retailers so that they can be empowered to
prevent the illicit sales of alcoholic beverages.
The expected result of this effort is to cut the crime and
nuisances associated with the abuse of alcoholic beverages.
Investigators
from “Operation ABC” will conduct training on the State Alcoholic
Beverage Control Act and provide printed information to all those in
attendance. This event will also be an opportunity for those in
attendance to ask questions of the experts in the field.
Vice
Investigators from LAPD and SMPD along with the Homeless Liaison
Program have collaborated on education and enforcement efforts. This
event is another step towards a mutual goal of improving
neighborhood livability in both jurisdictions.
