TRAFFIC ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Incident# 01-65161
  

On September 13, 2001 at approximately 12:01 p.m., Santa Monica Police responded to the intersection of 24th Street and Georgina Ave regarding a traffic accident involving a cement truck and a vehicle.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle, traveling eastbound on Georgina Ave, failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by the cement truck.  The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.   The identity of the driver is being withheld until next of kin are notified.

The driver of the truck, a resident of La Cresenta, was interviewed at the scene and released.

An investigation is continuing into the exact cause of the accident.
