HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
  
December 1, 2001
  
  

On December 1, 2001, at 7:35 a.m., Santa Monica Police responded to the 2200 block of Virginia, Virginia Park, regarding a dead body.  When officers arrived they located a male subject lying on the bench in the park. Santa Monica Fire Department was contacted and Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

On December 2, 2001, an autopsy was performed by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office and it is there determination that the victim died as a result of an assault.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of the next of kin.  The victim is described as a Male Hispanic, 39 yrs old.

The Robbery/Homicide Unit is handling the investigation.
