Live Scan Fingerprinting is used to reveal information about criminal history for identification, employment and licensing purposes by matching fingerprints and other identifying information to existing data files for an individual. Unlike the older process of applying inked fingerprint impressions onto a card, Live Scan electronically scans and transmits fingerprints to the California Department of Justice via a specialized computer terminal. This service is available at the Public Safety Facility, 333 Olympic Dr, Santa Monica, CA next to the Records Section of the first floor lobby.
