    Public Information Officer


    Lieutenant Saul Rodriguez is the Executive Officer for the Chief of Police and Public Information Officer (PIO) in charge of the Department’s Media Relations Unit.  He began his law enforcement career in 1995 as a Police Officer with the Los Angeles County Metro Transit Police Department.  He joined the Santa Monica Police Department in 1997.  As an Officer he worked on various patrol shifts, the Pico Neighborhood Bicycle Unit, Gang Unit, a Federal Task Force with United States Customs, Vice Detective, Narcotics Detective and Adjutant to the Patrol Division Commander.  In 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant. As a sergeant, he was assigned to supervise Patrol Division, Canine Unit Program coordinator, the Narcotics/Vice Unit and Federal Task Force Officers.  He was promoted to the rank of Police Lieutenant in June 2015.   As a Lieutenant, he has been assigned as Morning Watch Division Commander and Canine Unit Program Manager

    Lt. Rodriguez is a native of Southern California, born at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica and raised in Culver City.   He has received several unit citations and office commendations for his work.   He was awarded 2005 Santa Monica Rotary Club’s Officer of the Year and nominated as 2012 Santa Monica Police Officer’s Association Supervisor of the Year.  Saul graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in Playa Del Rey, attended California State University Northridge (CSUN) and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Management and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Public Sector Management/Organizational Leadership from CSUN.   Lt. Rodriguez is a graduate of the Supervisory Leadership Institute in 2011.
