In October 2016, the Santa Monica
Police Department (SMPD) participated in National Coffee with a Cop Day.
The event provided an opportunity for officers to interact with the community
in a neutral space over a cup of coffee. This practice promoted a

local law enforcement agency.
Through our daily interactions

SMPD is proud to announce the launching
of a city-wide ‘Meet Your Neighbors’ Program
today, January 30, 2017. The key to this event is simple engagement and
community building through a coffee date or ice cream social, for
example. Our challenge to the community is to step out of their comfort
zone and get to know the people on their block – their neighbors.
SMPD will enter all participants into a raffle for a free block party. To
be eligible for the SMPD hosted block-party, the individual neighbor gatherings
must be registered online at www.santamonicapd.org.
We ask that participants tag us in photos of the community events posted via
