This morning at about 6:51 a.m., officers from the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) responded to a radio call for service in the 1500 block of 7th Street regarding a male victim suffering from head trauma. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim unconscious and suffering from injuries to the head consistent with blunt force trauma.  Santa Monica Fire Department Paramedics treated the victim at the scene and transported him to a local hospital for treatment.

As officers searched the area, a possible male suspect was located in the 600 block of Broadway Avenue.  Following a preliminary investigation by SMPD Detectives, the suspect has been placed under arrest for this morning’s assault.  The suspect remains in police custody pending booking and further investigation.

Any link between today’s incident and the previous assaults in Santa Monica and Los Angeles has not been confirmed.  SMPD Detectives continue to work closely with the Los Angeles Police Department for any connections.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective Leone at (310) 458-8943; Detective Goodwin at (310) 458-8942; or the Santa Monica Police Department at (310) 458-8491.
