    Darrick Jacob

    Captain Darrick Jacob is currently the Commander for the Patrol Operations Division responsible for Patrol, Community Services Officers, Downtown Services Unit, Public Services Officer Downtown Unit, Harbor Services, Field Training Officer, and Canine Programs.

    Captain Jacob began his law enforcement career with the California State University, Northridge Police Department in 1996, before joining to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in 2001.  He was hired by Santa Monica Police Department in 2004.  During his time as a Police Officer, Captain Jacob worked as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Motor Officer, Defensive Tactics Instructor and Property Crimes Detective.

    In 2008, Captain Jacob was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  As a Sergeant, Captain Jacob supervised Patrol, Personnel and Training, the Santa Monica Animal Shelter, Police Dispatch and Detectives.  Captain Jacob was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2013 and worked assignments as a Patrol Watch Commander, Operations Adjutant, Downtown Services Unit Commander, Homeless Liaison (HLP) and S.W.A.T. Commander. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2018.

    Captain Jacob has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science and a master’s degree in Public Administration, both from California State University, Northridge.  He has attended numerous professional development programs including the Sherman Block Supervisory Institute (SLI) and the Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP).
